Training Our Minds to Crave Healthy Foods
January 16, 2018
Looking to improve your eating habits in 2018, but not sure how to curb your cravings for cupcakes, cookies, and other treats? Not sure of how to begin a new diet regimen? Or whether you can make worthwhile lifestyle changes alone?
Nutrition coach Allen Ziga has a plan.

Allen is a scientist with a passion for weight lifting and nutrition. With a degree in physics from John Caroll University, Allen is an entrepreneur who tutors struggling high school students and who coaches individuals interested in developing a more healthful approach to eating.
Allen emphasizes the connection between healthy eating and physical and mental well-being. Through his research, he has come to understand the ways in which mental conditioning can reinforce good eating habits, while reversing bad habits. He has personally benefited from his approach and enjoys sharing his knowledge with others.
Allen relies on the neuroplasticity of our brains to help change the way we think and feel about food. He teaches his clients about the ‘five second rule,’ the idea that, within five seconds, emerging thoughts take root and become entrenched in our minds. For this reason, we have a very narrow window of opportunity to reject or reverse a craving. Armed with this knowledge – and Allen’s support – clients can retrain the way their minds react and respond to food.
Many of Allen’s clients reside in Beachwood and Orange, but he serves clients throughout Cleveland and its eastern suburbs. While his enthusiasm for nutrition is contagious, his relaxed manner makes it easy to feel comfortable in his presence. Without judgement, Allen seeks to adapt his coaching approach to the specific needs and goals of each client.
